Theft of Church Bell

Sometime between Sunday, August 23rd and Wednesday, August 26th, a person(s) removed the church bell from the United Church Cemetery in Queen’s Cove. The bell is bronze, weighs approximately 400 to 500 pounds and is on an iron frame. Parishioners placed the bell at the cemetery when their church was decommissioned to preserve its historical value to the community.

Armed Robbery in Clarenville

On Friday August 28th, just before 10pm, a male wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white gloves and a disposable face mask entered the Needs Store on Memorial Drive, Clarenville. The suspect then approached the cashier and committed an armed robbery. He then fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Hit and Run in St. Anthony

A blue Mini Cooper was parked at the Eagle River Credit Union in St. Anthony on the evening of Monday, July 20th, at approximately 5pm. The next morning at 11am, July 21st, it was discovered that the back bumper of the car was broken, and the rim and rear quarter panel had been scratched. The damage to the vehicle was over $3000. The St. Anthony RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance to solve this hit and run.

Partially Constructed Home Vandalized in Witless Bay

Sometime between the evening of August 14th and the early morning hours of August 15th, a property on White’s Rd in Witless Bay was vandalized. A person or persons approached a home that is under construction on the property and smashed all of the windows.

Residential Theft in Witless Bay

On Friday, August 14th at 12:05 am, a female was observed on security footage stealing a wooden wishing well filled with dirt and a plant.  She left in what appears to be an older model Grey Equinox.  A blue 4 door automobile was following behind and may be known to each other.

Break and Enter at the Harbour Authority in Renews

On August 18th, it was discovered that there was a break and enter at the Harbour Authority’s building located on Wharf Road in Renews.  

The door was pried open with a crow bar however nothing was stolen. It is unknown when this took place.

Theft of Boat Trailer in Holyrood

On May 12th, between 12 AM and 6 PM a 2007 Venture boat trailer was stolen from the Marina in Holyrood. The suspect removed the boat from the trailer, setting it on the gravel and damaged the boat.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with any information to contact Holyrood RCMP at 709-229-3892.

Missing Firearm

A firearm was stolen from a home in Quirpon on the Great Northern Peninsula. The suspect broke into the home sometime between January and April, 2020. The firearm is a new Winchester SXP 12 guage pump action shotgun, with a black barrel and wooden stock. The suspect took only this firearm, leaving other firearms and valuables untouched. The suspect is known to the victim and had knowledge of the property and when it was left unattended.
