On February 25th, at approximately 12:15 PM, a theft occurred at Canadian Tire in Clarenville. Video surveillance captured a female removing an item from it’s packaging and placed it in her pocket. She then paid for other items but left the store without paying for the item in her pocket. The suspect is thin with brown/auburn hair, wore dark rimmed glasses, an Adidas hoodie, blue jeans and dark sneakers with darker laces and white soles. She was also wearing non-medical mask with a pattern.

On February 6th, 2021, Clarenville RCMP received a call of three break and enters into trailers stored on a lot behind an industrial building on Harbour Buffett Rd in Arnold’s Cove. This location is across from Icewater Seafoods Inc. Upon inspecting the trailers, it was discovered the front door and outside storage cabinets had been damaged, indicting a pry/crow bar had been used. Nothing was stolen and to date no witnesses have come forward.

Officers have conducted an extensive investigation but are asking the public’s assistance to solve this crime. If you have any details regarding this incident or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, please contact the Clarenville RCMP 709-466-3211.

NL HYDRO Substation Break and Enter

During the overnight hours of Saturday December 5th and the morning of December 6th, the NL HYDRO substation in Chapel Arm was the victim to a break and enter.

Entry was gained by cutting 2 holes in the chain link fence. Outside of the fence a bag of tools was left on site. The bag was a black, red and grey Molson Canadian bag containing an axe, pry bar, a piece of wood and a roll of plastic wrap.

Fibre Optic Cable Damaged

On Friday, November 27th at 3:30pm, a Bell Aliant fiber optic cable was cut near Arnold’s Cove on the rail bed. This is the 4th time in the last 12 months that the cable has been cut in the 10km stretch of the rail bed between Arnold’s Cove and Little Harbour East.

Theft and Arson of Motor Vehicle

Sometime during night of Sept 12th and early morning of Sept. 13th, 2020, a white 2014 Dodge Journey, plate number JAC 447, was stolen from a driveway on Alley Rd in Bay Bulls. It was later located on Sept 13th on an ATV trail near the Goulds known locally as Burnt Hill. The vehicle had been burnt out and was completely destroyed.

Theft of Tires from Tractor Trailer

Sometime between Friday, October 2nd and Monday October 5th, tires were stolen from an Oceanex trailer that was parked at in the Mahers commuter parking lot. Two Double Coin 11- 225 white wheels with ten holes were stolen and the trailer was left on 6×6 home made wooden blocks. The cost to replace the tires is more than $2900.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with any information to contact Holyrood RCMP at 709-229-3892.

Destruction of Property

On the night of Saturday, September 19th, between 12:30 – 2:30 a.m, a resident of North West Brook discovered that the tires were slashed on their motorhome, side-by-side, and two trailers, resulting in over $2000 in damage. 

A security camera showed a dark shadow and then later headlights from an unidentified vehicle.

Theft at Nalcor

Sometime between April 23rd and July 9th of 2020, 70 pressure treated poles were removed from Nalcor Energy’s Transmission Marshalling Yard in Argentia.

The yard is enclosed but access was gained through the rear of the fence.  It is believed that the 17.5 ft wooden poles were cut and removed from the area.

Break and Enter at Orange Store in Witless Bay

Overnight on Sunday, August 30th, two people wearing dark hooded sweaters, gloves and masks broke the side door window at the Orange Store in Witless Bay and gained entry. 

The suspects were driving a stolen 2014 Burgundy Infiniti QX60.  This vehicle was stolen from Paradise on the night of August 28/29, used in a B&E in Torbay, then later recovered on August 31st by the RNC on Blackmarsh Road, St. John’s.

Theft of Patio Deck

Sometime between 12 pm, Sunday, October 11th and Monday, October 12th at 7 pm, a wooden deck was stolen from a vacant property in Port Blandford, located next to Southern Shore Drive on Bunyan’s Cove Road.

The deck is made from pressure treated lumber and is in two parts, each being approximately 8 x 12 feet and 2 feet high. The two parts were joined together to make a patio for the trailer which was on the land. Because of its size, investigators believe more than 1 person was involved in this incident.
